Home at last

Thank God Almighty,  I'm home at last.
Time for a drink...a big tall cold drink.
26:30 of driving time, 1825 miles.  You do the math.

Flagstaff

It's far prettier than this, but it was the best shot available at the time.

West of Albuquerque

Gophie likes this view off of I-40!
About 25 miles east of Gallup we crossed the Continental Divide.  About 25 miles west of Gallup we crossed into Arizona.

Tucumcari, New Mexico

Another town on old Route 66.  Gophie towers over the buttes.

Gophie loves Chester's Chicken

...or just the name.  Just outside Oklahoma City on the way to Amarillo.

Quality Inn, Oklahoma City

In for the night.  Quality debatable,  but clean and AC works.  Cats approve.
The Driver is tired.

Entering Oklahoma

Notice the temperature in the upper right hand corner

Emporia, Kansas

Home of Preston and Esther Macy, and one-time home of Jerry Kill.  Go Gophers!

Kum & Go

Really?  It was far stranger to see an Amish mother with her two daughters buying fountain Cokes...

And away we go!

Car full to the gills.  Cats not happy.

Gophie Prepares for the Big Trip

Gophie the Garden Gnome hermetically sealed himself into a hermetically sealed chamber today in order to prepare for the big trip.  A spokesman for the gnome had no additional information,  including "why?".  When questioned directly, Gophie repeatedly stated "What?" and "I can't understand you!"  Many have asked for a government investigation.

Gophie's Journey Across America

Follow Gophie as he begins his trek from Minnesota to Arizona on June 10th.  Once he gets his (very short) bearings, he will fill you in on his mundane and exciting new life in the Valley of the Sun.
